Study on Medical College Library Users

A medical college, College of Medicine & JNM Hospital, established in 2009, which acts as the University college of West Bengal University of Health Sciences to ensure the health facilities not only for the treatment of the patients but also for the education of the health sciences under the control of Medical Council of India (MCI). The needs and seeking behaviour of information of users is difficult to assess. As it is varied from user to users (due to psychological pattern of human, time to time, place to place. moreover, the information need on medical science is highly unpredictable and has to serve on spot. Therefore, library will be developed such a way to meet the requirement on demand. On the other hand, as this is a new college, being librarian of the college this study was take-up as a path finder for building user friendly as well as need-based library.The book/study has tried to extract the need of the users and assess the seeking behaviour of the users of medical College library towards offering best library services to the library clientele

Mr. Bipul Chandra Mondal (BA & MA - History, MLIS, M.Phil, MSW, PGDCA) is the Assistant Librarian, Central Library, College of Medicine & JNM Hospital, Kalyani, Nadia since 2010. Dr. Nimai Chand Saha (Ph. D., MLIS, M.Com, B.Ed. DCPA, Cert. in German Language, NET-UGC) is the Deputy Librarian, Central Library, Visva-Bharati University since 2006.
